Call for Work: CRAVE: The Art of Dependency – due 1/27/12

CRAVE: The Art of Dependency seeks submissions for a national multimedia group exhibition comprised of works dealing with the subject matter of dependency and addiction.

Works of art from all mediums, including but not limited to photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, video art, and sculpture, will be considered. Work should in some way illustrate or comment upon a human dependency, whether it be on substances or people.

The selection process for the exhibition will focus on including works that speak to both the human nature for dependency as well as the negative effects addiction can have on individuals. Work that is very personal and evokes a great deal of emotion will be considered ideal selections. The exhibition will create a dialogue that is both substantial and relatable.

This exhibition is curated by Jeanné Schaser and will be held at the Arizona State University Step Gallery. Schaser is a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts candidate in Museum Studies and Photography. Her most recent curatorial endeavor, Stretching the Medium, was exhibited in the West Annex of the ASU School of Art Building in 2011 and featured mixed-media photographic works from artists across the nation.
