Call for Work – Juried Fiber Show – due 9-7-12

Juried Fiber Art Competition

October 4 – November 15, 2012
Deadline: September 7, 2012 3:00pm

The Shemer Art Center & Museum Juried Fiber Art Competition is a call to artists to expand their thinking in relation to textile materials, processes, concepts and results. You are invited to investigate what textiles are, or what they can be, and push forward to the “reinvention” or expansion of this multi-faceted medium.

This show defines textiles as any type of material made from fibers or other extended linear materials such as thread or yarn including old and new materials, techniques, and technologies. The exhibition seeks to expand the definition of textiles. A statement for each piece is required stating the concept, technique, or material that supports its textile connection.
